Switchless Dual Kernal Adapter for C64C

The dual kernal adapter can store up to 2 kernal rom images of the C64C

The selection is done without an external switch !!!

At the boot the multirom starts with the default kernal. If you want to start with the secondary kernal it's enough to hold the key RESTORE during the boot ... easy!

You can change the default kernal at the boot with the minijumper installed on the multirom.

So with the jumper you have:

Kernal A (default)

Kernal B (with RESTORE pushed)

with the jumper removed:

Kernal B (default)

Kernal A (with RESTORE pushed)

In order to operate it's necessary to solder two wires on two points of the moderboard.

The BLU wire goes to the RESTORE signal from the keyboard.

The RED wire goes to the reset signal of the CPU (pin 40).

See the pictures for the exact points to solder the wires.

Very simple to install !!

Please note that in order to install this adapter you need to desolder the original kernal rom and install a DIL28 socket.

This adapter can be inserted deirecly on the socket.

Let me know which rom images you want.

The dual kernal adapter can be be shipped with or without the eprom installed on it .

If you want to program an 27c512 EPROM by yourself you have to prepare the bin file storing the kernal images.

In order to work with this adapter please consider that you have to link the rom images with this sequence:

ROM IMAGE B (bank0 - actived with restore key)

ROM IMAGE A (bank0 - default at the boot)

ROM IMAGE D (bank1 - actived with restore key)

ROM IMAGE C (bank1 - default at the boot)

This can be done with the DOS command copy /b

e.g. copy /b ROM_IMAGE_B.bin + ROM_IMAGE_A.bin + ROM_IMAGE_D.bin + ROM_IMAGE_C.bin filetoburn.bin

Can be provided the jumper version also.
